Prayer to St. Lucian of Alexander

O blessed Lucian Father, a lamp of faith, a true teacher of virtues, an image of those who labor and are burdened with the holy spirit, a strong pillar in patience, an inexhaustible river in piety, feed the passions of the flesh to the end, trample down the machinations of men, overcome all the machinations of demons with valor, an Angel ever-present companion, for you have lived without flesh on earth. And now boldly standing before the Throne of the Heavenly King, Where the bodiless Forces stand, send up to Him a song of victory with them, together with all the saints, in joy in vain the high and ineffable beauty of eternal life. We beseech thee, our good ascetic, that through thy prayers and supplications, and through thy warm intercession before the All-pure and All-merciful Saviour, thy people may save us from all the temptations of this world, from the enmities and quarrels that reign in our lands, from schism and heresies that depart from the Church with pride, and instruct us to despise the lust of the flesh. bo passes away. Plant and multiply in us the faith of Christ, that we may be one in soul, as the cornerstone on which Christ builds His Church forever, destroying the strongholds of every hell. Guide us to repentance and humility of soul, so that we may be worthy of many mercies of God, of the Spirit of the Lord, who walk in the renewal of the mind and diligently fulfill the commands of Christ our God, let us receive heavenly life before death here, especially there, in the Divine and holy Homeland, endlessly glorifying in it, together with you, the Life-Giver of God, both the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
