Prayer to the Martyr Thomas of Egypt

O all-laudable martyr of Fomaido! For the purity of matrimony, even having struggled to the point of shelter, and having laid down your soul for chastity’s sake, you have found yourself worthy before the Lord, in whom you were more venerable in the person of the venerable virgins. Hear us who pray to you, and just as you have a healer of old from the flesh, by the grace bestowed upon You by God, grant joy and deliverance from carnal strife, and a chaste life, and an unalloyed sojourn in marriage and virginity to all those who are now resorting to your intercession, so that our bodies may be preserved by your auspicious prayers the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us will be. O most chosen among women and faithful servant of Christ! Help us, that we may not perish with our passions and lusts, but that we may be guided in our minds and strengthened in our hearts in all piety and purity, glorifying your help and intercession, and the grace and mercy of the Triune God, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, for ever and ever.
