Prayer to Saint Leontius, Bishop of Rostov, Wonderworker

O holy head, most glorious wonderworker, to the first Pastor of the Holy Church of Rostov, St. Leontius the Father! We fall down and pray to you, humble and sinful ones, and as we ask the father who loves children: plant in our hearts your love for God and your neighbors, which you were filled with during your lifetime, as you also laid down your life for your flock, having suffered as martyrs from idolaters: teach us, Father, to imitate you truly, to love God and our neighbors sincerely, and to fulfill the Lord’s commandments infallibly: may we also be thy children, not in name only, but in our very work and in our whole life. Pray, O Saint of God, to Christ our God, for the most holy Orthodox Church and the Russian empire: may they live in peace and prosperity, and flourish in Christian piety, and be unshaken. Keep the reigning cities, your city of Rostov and all the cities and weights of the Russian country are safe from all evil. Look kindly upon every Christian soul who seeks mercy and help from you: healer of diseases, comforter of sorrows, deliverer of sorrows, helper of troubles, patron of death: that through the prayers of your saints, we sinners may also receive eternal salvation and inherit the kingdom of Christ. To her, the Holy Hierarch of Christ! Do not put to shame our hope, which, according to the Lord and the Most Holy Theotokos, we place firmly in you, but show us your many-powerful intercession: that we may praise, glorify, and magnify the great love of the wondrous God in Our saints, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to the ages of ages.
