Prayer to St. Athanasius of Athos

Venerable Father Athanasius, a great saint of Christ and a great wonderworker of Mount Athos, who has guided many people to the right path and to the kingdom of heaven in the days of your earthly life, guided them to wisdom, comforted them in sorrow, given them a helping hand, and has been a gracious, merciful, and compassionate father to all! Even now, abiding in your heavenly grace, multiply above all your love for us who are weak, who are in distress in the midst of everyday life, who are tempted by the spirit of malice and passions that are at war with the spirit. For this reason, we humbly beseech thee, holy Father: by the grace given to thee from God, help us to do the will of the Lord in simplicity of heart and humility: but to overcome the temptations of the enemy and the fierce sea of passions, so that we may pass through the depths of life without being touched, and through thy intercession to the Lord we may be made worthy to attain the Kingdom of Heaven promised to us, glorifying the Beginningless Trinity, the Father and the Son, and Of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
