Prayer to St. Cassian the Roman

O our God-blessed and ever-memorable Father Cassiana, cohabitant of the divine Angels, bear the burden of the day, live in poverty, enrich yourself with divine gifts! You are now reestablished in venerable cathedrals, rejoicing in the faces of the righteous, remember us, who praise your virtuous life, and do not leave us helpless. Look at our life, agitated by everyday troubles, so that the sinful storm will not drown us, and the depth of pernicious despair will devour us below. Hear the prayer of us sinners who pray, and do not despise the supplication of us who are weak, caught in the devil’s snares, oppressed everywhere by evil forces, deprived of all good things, saddened by discouragement and possessed with cowardice. See, O holy one, that our soul is humbled to dust, and that the enemy who hates us will be a joy to those who kill us with evil deeds all day long, for truly they have lost their way, like sheep that have no shepherd. Through your God-pleasing prayers, mercifully create for us one God who loves mankind, so that He may not reward us according to our evil deeds or the uncleanness of our hearts, but that His good mercies may precede us, establishing our life in peace, unity of heart, and piety. O God-blessed One, we trust in you for God’s sake, we praise you, we call on your holy name for help, and, falling down to your miraculous image of unworthiness, we pray to you. Pray, O our Father Cassians, to Christ our God, that having delivered ourselves from our evil ones, we may be made worthy with you of eternal good things, by the grace and bounty of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed with His Beginningless Father and with the Most Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
