Prayer to St. Macarius, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Russia

O great prelate, Mother See of the Russian Church, shepherd and teacher of the city of Moscow, our blessed Father Macarius, who hast perfected the good deed of thy life and acquired boldness with the Lord! We fall down to you with the tenderness of our hearts and fervently pray: awaken for us a warm intercessor at the Throne of the Almighty and beseech the All-merciful God: may He not despise us, who have fallen into many and severe sins, but grant us all that is good and necessary, which leads to salvation. We believe that you are weak, but we fervently beseech you, O Holy Hierarch of God,through your intercession to preserve unharmed the flock of All Russia, which you have saved in your holiness. As a bishop and presbyter, ask the Lord for wisdom, so that you may have the right to correct the word of divine truth, sacrificial love and zeal for salvation, so that not one of their flock may perish; strengthen those who are monks in asceticism, and show them the true and necessary way of living in the world, who are in Christ Jesus; strengthen our faith, and love a friend who is not hypocritical teach one another, and strengthen them in the hope of God’s mercy. Again, we beseech thee, O Holy Hierarch, to ask us of the All-merciful God the spirit of understanding and wisdom, so that we may be adorned with the true knowledge of God of the saving writings of the holy Fathers and the wisdom of their creations. To her, O Holy Hierarch of God, beseech the Lord for the peace of the whole world; keep our country by your intercession in peace and serenity; keep all the people of our fatherland in a good disposition to one another and show them strangers to internecine disorders; keep all cities and weights of good things, keep the holy faith in the people immaculate. Be a speedy helper for all of us in our needs, so that we may be nourished by you, live in peace and piety in this life, and be worthy of eternal blessings in heaven, glorifying and exalting the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and your merciful intercession for us forever and ever. Amen.
